Peluang Emas Cabang Catur Tertutup

Metrotvnews.com, Palembang: Peluang kontingen Indonesia meraih medali emas dari cabang olahraga catur SEA Games XXVI praktis tertutup. Para pecatur yang turun di tiga nomor awal gagal meraih hasil sebagaimana diharapkan.

Hingga babak keempat nomor pasangan campuran yang berlangsung di Hotel Swarna Dwipa Palembang, Selasa (15/11), pecatur GM Susanto Megaranto (2537) dan WGM Irene Kharisma Sukandar (2350) masih tertahan di posisi keempat di bawah pasangan asal Vietnam, Filipina dan Malaysia.

Dari empat babak telah dijalani, Susanto-Irene baru meraih 5 angka kemenangan, tertinggal dibanding pasangan Vietnam GM Dao Thien Hai (2505) dan WGM Nguyen Thi Thanh An (2300) yang telah mengoleksi 7,5 angka kemenangan. Dengan sisa satu babak yang akan dimainkan Rabu (16/11) besok pagi, praktis peluang medali emas sudah tertutup habis. Susanto-Irene hanya bisa berharap meraih medali perak atau perunggu.

Bahkan bukan tidak mungkin Indonesia bakal tidak mendapatkan satu pun medali dari nomor pasangan campuran, mengingat lawan yang akan dihadapi di babak terakhir adalah pasangan kuat dari Vietnam, Dao Thien Hai dan Nguyen Thi Thanh An. Sementara di nomor catur ASEAN, pecatur Taufik Halay juga mencatatkan hasil yang tidak menggembirakan. Dari empat babak yang telah dimainkan, Taufik baru mengumpulkan 1,5 angka kemenangan.

Posisi teratas ditempati pecatur Thailand Kongsee Uaychai yang mengoleksi 3 angka kemenangan. Dengan sisa satu babak yang juga akan dimainkan Rabu besok pagi, Taufik Halay juga sudah tidak mungkin lagi meraih medali emas. Kondisi tidak jauh berbeda juga dialami dua pecatur Indonesia yang turun di nomor catur buta, IM Dede Liu (2375) dan IM Tirta Chandra Purnama (2384).

Dede Liu tertahan di posisi kesembilan dari sepuluh peserta nomor catur buta dengan 2,5 angka kemenangan. Posisi Tirta Chandra Purnama sedikit lebih baik, yakni berada di posisi ketiga dengan 5 angka kemenangan. Posisi teratas ditempati pecatur Vietnam GM Le Quang Liem (2714) dengan 7,5 angka kemenangan, diikuti pecatur Filipina GM Jhon Paul Gomez (2506) dengan 6 angka kemenangan.

Dengan hanya menyisakan satu babak, perolehan angka kemenangan Tirta Chandra Purnama tidak mungkin lagi mengejar Le Quang Liem. Posisi Tirta di tempat ketiga pun belum aman, karena di posisi keempat terdapat pecatur Filipina GM Laylo Darwin (2502) yang juga telah mengumpulkan 5 angka kemenangan. Pada babak terakhir Tirta justru akan bertemu Jhon Paul Gomez, sehingga medali perunggu pun bisa saja gagal diraih.

Menanggapi hasil tersebut, manajer tim catur Indonesia Rikardo mengaku sangat kecewa. "Tentu saja kita kecewa dengan hasil ini, apalagi kita adalah tuan rumah," kata dia.

Tentang penyebab kegagalan para pecatur Indonesia, Rikardo menilai lebih soal mental bertanding. "Sepertinya mental anak-anak tidak dalam keadaan benar-benar siap, belum memiliki mental juara, padahal mereka sudah menjalani pelatnas selama sembilan bulan penuh," ujar dia.

Ketika ditanya soal target dua medali emas yang dicanangkan sebelum SEA Games berlangsung, ia mengaku masih berharap target itu masih dapat dicapai melalui enam nomor lain akan dipertandingkan Kamis (17/11).

Cabang catur memperebutkan sembilan set medali, masing-masing dari nomor pasangan campuran, catur buta, catur ASEAN, catur standar perseorangan putra dan putri, catur cepat putra dan putri, serta nomor catur kilat putra dan putri.(Ant/BEY)

Vietnam chess players expect three SEA Games golds
The Vietnamese chess team hope to win three gold medals or more out of the nine categories at the 26th Southeast Asia Games in Indonesia to be held in November.
Grandmaster Le Quang Liem, with Elo 2717, who won the 2011 Spice Cup in Texas, the US on Oct. 25, is Vietnam’s biggest hope.

In August, he succeeded in defending his first runner-up position in the 2011 Dortmund tournament in Germany for super grandmasters.
Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son, who joined the 2011 World Cup with Liem in September, is also golden hope of Vietnam.
The 12-player Vietnam team are training in Ho Chi Minh City the SEA Games, the region’s largest sporting event.
The 2005 SEA Games hosted by the Philippines saw Vietnamese players clinch eight gold medals – a record of Vietnam until now.

Alex yang melakukan inspeksi mendadak (sidak) ke venue olahraga asah otak ini sempat berkata kepada pengelola hotel milik BUMD Pemprov Sumsel, Augy Bunyamin agar suhu AC dibikin lebih sejuk lagi.  "Bisa ditambahin dak. Ini kurang dingin," ujar Alex.

Orang nomor satu di Sumsel ini pun agar panitia seperti cewek-cewek LO dan sukarelawan pada saatnya nanti jangan menumpuk dan lalu-lalalng di ruang pertandingan. Pasalnya, dikhawatirkan akan mengganggu konsentrasi atlet bertanding.

Alex pun sempat memainkan pion-pion catur beberapa langkah berhadapan dengan seorang panpel, Handoyo yang juga anggota CPM.

Sekum Pengprov Percasi Sumsel Mursili mengatakan, cabor catur sudah siap kemarin pun memasang papan elektrik dan kabel untuk mendukung jalannya pertandingan yang akan berlangsung 12-21 November 2011. 

Sebanyak 58 pecatur dari enam negara akan berlaga di pesta olahraga akbar ini. Sembilan nomor yang akan dirtandingkan meliputi catur standar putra dan putri, catur cepat putra dan putri, catur kilat putra dan putri, catur buta putra dan putri, dab catur Asian.

"Catur buta itu, pecatur hanya menghadapi meja tanpa papan catur. Tinggal menyebutkan langkahnya. Nantinya ditulis di notasi dan wasit akan menulis di papan peraga. Pemain membelakangi papan peraga. Kalau salah langkah, kalah. Sedangkan catur Asian, majunya selangkah-selangkah. Menterinya juga jalannya selangkah," terang Mursili.
