Round 6: Aronian & Carlsen increase lead at FIDE Candidates to 1.5 points *
*By winning in round 6 Levon Aronian (Armenia) and Magnus Carlsen (Norway)
increased their lead at the FIDE Candidates' Tournament to 1.5 points. The
score was opened by Carlsen who beat Peter Svidler (Russia) from the black
side of a Closed Ruy Lopez. Aronian profited from a blunder by Teimour

The latest chess news via Fide is that the 1st Jersey International Chess
Tournament was staged on 6-10th March at the Hotel Ambassadeur, St Clement
Bay, Jersey JE2 6SB. Grandmaster Eduardas Rozentalis (2616) from Lithuania
won the Masters section after concluding the race with 8 points from 9
games. GM Mark Hebden (England 2518) is second with 7,5 points, while the
top-seeded GM Michal Krasenkow (Poland 2643) finished third with 7 points.

The two winners of the 13th European Individual Senior Chess Championship,
GM Mark Tseitlin (ISR) and WGM Margarita Voiska finished with 7.5 and 7
points, respectively. Unlike the women’s tournament, where Voiska had
secured her title one round before the final leg, the final ranking in the
men’ section was not clear until the last moment, according to a chess news

forced to a draw by Indian IM Nisha Mohota in the third round of the
AICF-KIIT Cup International Women Chess Championship at KIIT International

The standings didn't change after Wednesday's fifth round of the FIDE World
Chess Candidates’ Tournament in London as all games ended in draws. Facing
his own favourite Grünfeld, Peter Svidler (Russia) got a winning position
against Boris Gelfand (Israel) but after wild complications the game ended
in a draw. Magnus Carlsen (Norway) also played the Grünfeld and for the
first time he was under pressure, against Vassily Ivanchuk (Ukraine), but
