Working trip to UAE, Abu Dhabi

FIDE President had a working trip to the UAE and held a meeting with Sheikh
Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Community
Development which was held in Abu Dhabi. The Parties discussed issues of
mutual cooperation and noted that chess is now more promoted in the UAE.
This is why it was decided to open a regional FIDE office in the Chess
Palace in Sharjah and this decision was supported by the leader of the

Grandmaster Krishnan Sasikiran is the Indian National Chess Champion 2013.
GM Sasikiran won the 51st Indian National Premier Chess Championship 2013
on Monday.
Sasikiran played some very strong chess to beat extremely tough competition
over the last two weeks. The last round had two vital games to be played
that would effect the final outcome. GM Adhiban went into the last round
trailing the leader by half point and convincingly beat MS Thejkumar. This

89th Hastings International Chess Congress 2013 Begins

Hello everyone,
The 89th Hastings International Chess Congress has begun. The tournament
was opened on Saturday at the town's Horntye Park sports complex by council
leader Jeremy Birch. The Hastings International Chess Congress was first
held in the East Sussex resort in 1895. Councillor Birch described it as
the "longest running chess congress in the world, and one of the best
known". The chess congress ends on 5 January.

Announcement of the Israel Chess Federation
Yesterday the 2013 World Youth concluded in Al Ain, in the U.A.E. with the
participation of 1773 players from 171 federations. The Israeli delegation
which took part in the event consisted of 5 players and several
accompanying persons.
During the event there were several publications and petitions from several
institutes and individuals about the fact that the flags of Israel were
removed from the relevant tables in the tournament and from the official

Closing Ceremony of the WYCC 2013 was held in the UAE after the last round.
Medal winners in classic and blitz sections in all 12 categories recieved
their medals from Sheikh Nehyan and FIDE President Kirsan Illyumzhinov.

future. The 2013 World Youth Chess Championships were held on 17-29th

From January 3 to January 16, the Estonian Chess Federation will hold a
Paul Keres Memorial Chess Festival in Tallinn. Paul Keres was elected the
Estonian Sportsman of the 20th century. The international tournament of the
Paul Keres Memorial Festival will take place from January 10 to January 16,
2014. It will be a 9-round Swiss system event with the prize fund of 10 000

The Pavlodar Chess Open 2013 took place from 10-19th December at the Estaya
St. 83 in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan.
The chess tournament was devoted to the Republic of Kazakhstan Independence
