World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand called in the demolition squad on
Monday.
He wrapped off the eighth game in his world chess championship match with
Israel's Boris Gelfand in 17 moves. Vishy had got a similar advantage in
the third game, but had let off Gelfand with a draw that day.
On Monday, Anand was in no mood to sit back. Vishy Anand used the pawn

2012 U.S. Women's Chess Champion. Playing black, Krush beat defending
champion IM Anna Zatonskih in the first encounter, then survived several

During the press conference, Boris Gelfand said that he strayed away from
the continuation that we had seen in the first and third games at move
number six, by choosing to play 6. Qc2, a move that he had previously used

SAINT LOUIS, May 19, 2012 -- After a struggle of 11 exhausting days of play
at the 2012 U.S. Championships, GM Hikaru Nakamura took 30 moves to beat GM
Yasser Seirawan and become the 2012 U.S. Champion. It is his third title
and his first since 2009. IMs Irina Krush and Anna Zatonskih both won also
to remain tied for first in the U.S. Women's Championship. They will play a
