Chess Blog for Daily Chess News and Trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2013 Hello everyone, The Russian Chess Championships for students were held from 24th September to 2nd October at the SGSEU chess club in Saratov. The tournament was played over nine rounds of Swiss system and draw offers were not allowed before move 40. GM Igor Lysyj from the Ural State Mining University convincingly won the title after concluding the race with 8,5/9 points. Nikita Matinyan (SGSEU), Alexandr Predke and Ivan Bukavshin (both - USMU) finished on shared 2nd place full point behind the winner. You can... more »
